I love food. I love to try new food. I love to try mom and pop restaurants, holes in the wall, you know, the little joints, some run down, some new. They seem to have the best food. I want to share these places with you in the hopes that you will feel the same way I do about food and want to try something new and delicious or something basic but very good. I may also throw in an incredible recipe I come across since I not only like to eat, I like to cook. I hope you enjoy the journey and if you have a place you want me to try, please let me know.

Drake and I decided to give this place a try the other day.  I had been there once before and really liked it.  Drake had never had good curry cooking before so he wanted to go.  Khalifa is hidden in the back of a couple of other restaurants and you have a hard time seeing it from GA Hwy 85.  Turn in between Arby's and Captain D's and you can't miss it.  It is a nice clean restaurant, sort of a classy place.

We went for the buffet so that we could try everything.  They had a selection of about eight dishes plus salad and dessert.

Drake went for the Fried Vegetables and Chicken Curry to start with.  He went back later for other dishes.
Chicken Curry and Fried Vegetables
I decided to go for the Chicken Curry, Fried Vegetables, Lentils, and an Okra dish.  The okra dish was so good I had to go back for seconds.  I also went back for the Chicken Marsala which was very good.  The chicken is so tender it just melts in your mouth.

As Drake and I ate the Okra dish, we both commented on how good and different it was.  It make your mouth tingle.  We tried to figure out what it was but couldn't.  So, we asked the waiter.  He said it was Tumeric.  I had heard of Tumeric but don't think I have ever tasted it.  It was very good.

Bottom Line

This is a good restaurant.  The food is fresh, very tasty, and plenty of it.  The only drawback is it is sort of pricey.  The lunch buffet is $9.50.  Can't afford to eat there too often.  The food has strong flavors which I like very much.  Lots of curry but not too hot or spicy.  They know how to do it right.

Recommendations

Anything on the buffet.  Try it all.  It's good.  They also give you a basket of bread that is like Pita bread but made out of Chickpea flour. Very good for sopping up the sauces.
